Estée Lauder’s Jo Malone turns to ‘Fortnite’ for first gaming activation
Marketing Dive
Jo Malone London has launched its first-ever gaming activation, partnering with Fortnite to support the introduction of its new Sea Salt & Bergamot Cologne. Rather than building its own game world, the Estée Lauder-owned fragrance brand integrated a limited-time experience into the popular creator-made Minigame Box PvP island, bringing the scent’s British coastal inspiration to life through an immersive digital environment. The activation is supported by gaming creators, livestreams and social content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok and Fortnite.
The campaign reflects a growing trend of beauty brands using gaming platforms to reach younger audiences in more immersive and culturally relevant ways. As consumer attention fragments across digital spaces, brands are increasingly moving beyond traditional media into environments where discovery feels more organic and participatory. Jo Malone’s approach also demonstrates how experiential storytelling is becoming increasingly important in categories like fragrance, helping brands translate sensory products into memorable digital experiences that build awareness, relevance and engagement with future consumers.
